About Dr. Joe

Dr. Joe Kessler is a board certified family physician whose practice seeks to integrate the best of both Western and Eastern medical practices. He seeks to take patients beyond simply naming a diagnosis to understanding its root cause, providing them an opportunity not only to control their symptoms, but to move toward true healing.

Within his practice is the opportunity for patients to explore both the latest treatments in modern medicine and the most ancient approaches of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  In this open setting, patients are not forced to choose between one or the other, but may create a combination that fits best with their own needs and beliefs.

Dr. Joe also provides education and opportunity for growth outside the examination room.  He teaches the 6-week Dragon’s Way Weight Reduction and Stress Management Course and hosts a weekly Breast Health Qigong practice group.  He lectures on both Eastern and Western medicine topics.

Dr. Joe graduated from the Ohio State University College of Agriculture with a B.S. in Nutrition and received his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine.  He completed his residency training in Family Practice at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio, and has served as the Medical Director of Lake Health Physician Group in Lake County, Ohio. He is a diplomat in good standing of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Joe completed the acupuncture training courses at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, and at the Academy of Pain Research in San Francisco, CA.  He currently trains with Dr. Nan Lu, OMD, of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) World Foundation in New York City.
